Digital Economy Program Update
After three years of impactful work supported by funding from the Idaho Legislature, the Digital Economy Program has concluded. Although the program advanced a strong foundation for digital skills development across Idaho, its recommended application for a major federal grant to continue and expand this work was ultimately discontinued with the change in the federal administration’s leadership.
Despite the cutting of this funding stream, the need for Idahoans to fully participate in our digital society and economy remains critical. On these pages, you will find connections to other programs, services, and partners who continue to support digital access, digital skills, and workforce readiness throughout Idaho. We encourage you to explore these resources and remain engaged in building a digitally empowered Idaho. We hope that documentation of our efforts will also stand as an example of the impact that can be made on Idahoans when there is investment in ensuring that no one is left behind in our digital age.

The Digital Economy Program's (DEP) mission is to reduce the digital divide and enable the benefits of digitalization to reach all Idahoans. The DEP devotes its resources and efforts to achieve its vision of an Idaho where all residents are prepared to lead and thrive in today’s digital economy and where communities across the state have the right economic and social conditions to support a fair digital transformation.

Broadband internet access has evolved from a convenience to a necessity and bridging the digital divide in Idaho is a team effort. We partner with state, regional and community organizations to identify and overcome barriers to broadband internet adoption, with a focus on rural and underserved communities. Together we can identify solutions and partnerships to improve digital access and adoption to increase the quality of life for all Idahoans.
